Founded in 1800, Quincy Township shares a municipal boundary with the Borough of Mont Alto. In 1878, through the energies of G.B. Weistling and others, the Mont Alto Railroad was extended to Waynesboro through Quincy Township. Many historic homes and buildings still stand in the township, which is host to numerous farms and orchards.
The Western part of Quincy Township is part of the Great Appalachian Valley, an agricultural area with elevations in the township ranging from 650 to 1,100 feet, while the eastern half is on the slopes and crest of South Mountain, the highest point of which is the summit of Snowy Mountain, with an elevation exceeding 2800 feet. The Appalachian Trail traverses the Eastern side of the township.
